The spiritual leader of Brotherhood of the Cross and Star, His Holiness Olumba Olumba Obu has announced that he will soon consecrate new sets of female priests and Bishops-elect in his Organization.
The female priests, no fewer than 1000, are called Blessed Mothers.
They were selected over two years ago which time they passed through series of spiritual orientation and administrative trainings.
The spiritual leader whom his legion of faithfuls adore as King of kings and Lord of lords hinted that he will also personally consecrate new set of Bishops-elect, who, too, passed through Episcopal trainings and orientation in the last four years.
In his address where he commissioned various committees to screen both groups of high priests, Obu charged them to allow the divine spirit to guide them in order to prepare spirit-filled priests for the consecration ceremony billed to hold at the organisation’s headquarters in Calabar.
Speaking to journalists, the Deputy Rector, Administration of the Mansion of Blessedness, Her Eminence Glory Ntuk said the high number of female priests was necessary to fill the yawning gap in the priesthood.
According to her, the spiritual head of the Organization had divinely selected these mothers, so that they will impact the membership and humanity.
She maintained that they will add value to the Organization’s priesthood as they carry out their assigned mandates.
“In Brotherhood of the Cross and Star, female priests are not restricted in any way like other conventional religious groups. This is because it is the Holy Spirit that does everything here. We have increasing numbers of worship centres in many countries which require priests to man them..”, she said.
Also speaking, head of secretariat at the Brotherhood College of Bishops, Archbishop Mike Ntuk said the consecration of the high number of Bishops-elect is unprecedented in the world history, which only their reverred leader alone has the spiritual capacity to undertake.
He said those to be consecrated are professionals from all walks of life and of different nationalities, adding that they have all passed through the crucible necessary to tune them up for the priestly tasks ahead of them.
Ntuk disclosed that, “This is not the first time that our Father will consecrate huge number of Bishops. Presently, I dare say that the Brotherhood of the Cross and Star has the largest crowds of Bishops and Archbishops…”
