Onitsha elderly, sick, indigent showered with palliatives
By Alphonsus Nweze, Onitsha
No fewer than 500 persons of Onitsha extraction have benefitted from Christmas and New Year palliatives by Selfless4African, an NGO in partnership with Igwebuike Social Club of Onitsha Ado in Onitsha North Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The distribution of the palliatives which took place at the premises of Washington Grammar School in Onitsha drew selected elderly, indigent, sick persons and widows in Onitsha.
Some of the items distributed were 10kg of rice, one life fowl, two litres of vegetable oil, 10 sachet of curry, 10 sachet of thyme, one packet of knorr cube, 10 tins of medium size tomatoes and a packet of salt for each of the beneficiaries.
The Country Representative for Selfless4African, Dr. Dueze Emmanuel, said although they were partnering with Igwebuike Social Club, the NGO fully sponsored the empowerment programme.

Assuring that they would continue with the programme which is in its fifth year now, Dr. Dueze called on wealthy and public spirited individuals to join hands in lifting the poor and needy in society in a period like this.
The coordinator of the programme, Mr Nene Anazonwu, said although it is not left for him to assess their performance so far, they have performed above a average.
Some of the beneficiaries who spoke with Apexnewsexclusive expressed their gratitude to the sponsors and organisers, saying that God has used them to lift the less privileged this season.
An eighty-seven year old Stella Chinwe Chukwura called on the rich and privileged individuals to emulate SelflessAfrican and Igwebuike Social Club of Onitsha Ado in lifting the poor and indigent members of the society.
