PDP Kaduna Chairman denies boycott rumors, encourages voter turnout amid election irregularities

The Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna State, Mr. Edward Percy Masha, has dismissed rumors suggesting he urged party members to boycott today’s Local Government elections in the state’s 23 Local Government Areas.
Speaking to journalists in Kafanchan, Masha clarified that neither he nor his office issued such a directive. He pointed out that, during an inspection of sensitive electoral materials by PDP agents at the State Independent Electoral Commission (SIECOM) office in Kaduna, it was discovered that critical documents, such as result sheets, were missing, which he described as a serious irregularity.
Masha also expressed concern over attempts by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to manipulate the elections. He referenced his earlier warning, issued two weeks ago, about APC’s alleged plan to introduce a controversial clause into SIECOM’s election guidelines, potentially compromising the integrity of the results announcement.
Despite these challenges, Masha urged all PDP members to come out in large numbers to vote and exercise their democratic rights, while also ensuring they avoid actions that could lead to unrest. He lamented that democracy in Kaduna State is under threat from APC’s tactics.
