PDP lawmaker to pick medical bills for APC defectors shot by security officials

The member representing Yala/Ogoja federal constituency in the National Assembly, Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe has offered to pick up medical bills of all the APC supporters who were badly hit by bullets at the venue of their defection from PDP to APC.

The event held yesterday in Yala LGA of the state when a defection rally of Alphonsus Ogar Eba, the Director General of the Cross River State Bureau of Due Process and Price Intelligence was staged.

No fewer than nine persons, all supporters of Eba were brutally shot at, a few had their limbs amputated while others were severely injured by the accidental discharge of bullets from security officials.

Jarigbe said he deeply sympathised with his “Constituents who got hit by bullets, during the defection Ceremony to APC at Echumofana Ward of Yala LGA.

“Any of the victims, in need of financial assistance for treatment, should please, contact me at the Constituency Office. You are all in our Prayers. May God heal you all.”

Jarigbe cautioned that officials and supporters should always manage their excitements during events of such magnitude as guns are not toys.

Meanwhile, Alphonsus Eba, a strong ally of Governor Ben Ayade, said he takes responsibility for the incident.

He had visited the victims on he medical facilities they were taken and promised to bake full charge of the bills.

A former member of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Tom Agi is reported to be one of the injured.

Apart from Agi, the Yala APC Caretaker Committee Chairman, Mr. Richard Ogbeche, Lucy Ogbeche, Onah Linus and Austin Ogabor who was amputated Tuesday, sustained gun wounds.

Eva had vied to become the State Chairman of PDP last year until his principal, Ayade, crossed to APC.
