Governor Nyesom Wike
By Iheanachor Isaac, Abakiliki
The Governor of Rivers State, Chief Nyesom Wike Saturday warned that the People’s Democratic Party would go into extinction if it failed to win presidency in 2023.
He also assured Nigerians that he would resolve the persisting activities of bandits ravaging some states, especially in the northern region by creating state police.
He made the remarks at PDP party Secretariat in Abakiliki where he met with delegates of the party ahead of the forthcoming Presidential primaries of the PDP.
The River state governor who begged Ebonyi PDP delegates to vote for him, noted that option for consensus candidate for the position of the party presidential flagbearer ahead of 2023 is undemocratic, hence called on PDP members to reject such idea.
His words: “If we don’t win presidential election in 2023, PDP will be finished, and that is why I have made myself available. Vote for me, I have made myself available to defeat All Progressives Congress and to change Nigeria for better.
“Again, I want to advise you to reject the option of consensus candidate for the presidential ticket, is undemocratic”, he explained.
Wike also pledged that he would continue supporting Ebonyi PDP and to fight against injustice meted against them in the state.
He however debunked the speculations making round in some states of the federation that he is in the race to canvass for vice president position.
“I am not running election to be Vice president or for just to be addressed as president candidate,” he said.
