Mr. Peter Obi, former Anambra State Governor and 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, donated ₦10 million to Tansian University’s College of Nursing in Oba during a recent visit.

The donation, he emphasized, underscores his belief in education as a crucial tool for poverty alleviation and national development.

He urged Nigerian leaders to prioritize education, healthcare, and poverty reduction.

Mr. Obi commended Tansian University for its commitment to training healthcare professionals and expressed confidence in the transformative power of a well-educated populace.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Eugene Nwadialor expressed profound gratitude for Obi’s continued support, recalling a previous ₦100 million donation during Obi’s Governorship.

He highlighted the plight of 38 nursing students who lost their scholarship after the death of Monsignor Johnbosco Akam, appealing for Obi’s assistance to enable them to complete their studies.

Prof. Nwadialor also invited Obi to be the Special Guest of Honour at the university’s March 29, 2025 convocation.

The event, attended by staff, students, and dignitaries, showcased Obi’s ongoing commitment to education and national development, celebrating his impact on numerous young people’s lives.

Mr. Obi was accompanied by former commissioners Prof. Chinyere Stella Okunna, Prof. Patrick Obi, and Mr. Ndubisi Menakaya.
