Plateau COVID-19 team working on a cure for the pandemic

The Plateau State COVID-19 team has broken a cheering news of the possibility of the state to come up with a cure for the dreaded pandemic in no distant time.

The team set up by Governor Simon Bako Lalong with a view to stem the spread of the disease.

The Committee headed by Noel Newman Wannang,  a Professor of Pharmacology and Toxicology, University of Jos, disclosed this on Tuesday saying the drugs may be the antidote to COVID-19.

It was gathered that the committee,  formulated 3 cocktails, Coded Cov Pla1, Cov Pla 2 and Cov Pla3 which stands for severe, moderate and mild respectively with all the formulations sourced from plant materials.

According  to the Committee,  the drugs showed promising antiviral activities that can be a novel treatment for covid 19 with “The three candidate drugs have undergone preclinical stages”, it said.

“We did insilico, invivo and invitro studies. Results showed antiviral activities with possible cure for covid 19. The drug treatment trials will undergo further analysis to conclude the efficacy in humans.” Prof. Wannang proudly declared.

He further stated that  “Cov Pla1 2 and 3 are coded until we conclude on the trial and  registration with regulatory bodies.

The Chairman is also the Director, General Studies of the University and the Secretary General of West African Postgraduate College of Pharmacists (WAPCP).
