Plateau local hunters rescue Divisional Police Officer, another in kidnappers den

In a dramatic twist, the kidnapped newly posted Divisional Police Officer, (DPO), in Paknshain LGA, Plateau state has finally regained freedom: coutesy, the local hunters in the area.

The DPO, Mr. SP Nwapi Augustus who was kidnapped on Thursday, January 12th, 2023 at a Hotel in Pankshin town was allegedly rescued after four days in capacity.

It was leant that the DPO was rescued on Sunday 15th January 2023 alongside one other woman in the rocky hillside of Langkang, a village in the area.

Sources hinted that some local hunters stormed the den of the kidnappers in the valley at Langkang, opposite Tambal Resort, and engaged the hoodlums before finally rescuing the victims.

Confirming this to newsmen, the Mishkam Mupun and Interim President, Pankshin/ Kanke Joint Traditional Council, His Royal Highness, Da Yusuf Wale, said that he got information that four brave hunters engaged the bandits for almost an hour forcing them to abandon the victims at their hideout when they saw the hunters advancing towards them.

He said the victims were brought to his palace after the operation; where he immediately invited the police in the division to convey the victims for further action.

Furthermore, the enthusiastic Royal Father commended the hunters for their braveness in rescuing the kidnapped DPO and said he was happy with the success recorded, adding that if the hunters could receive adequate encouragment and support from government and well meaning Nigerians, they could tackle banditry in Pankshin Local Government Area.

Also speaking, the Chairman of the Council, through his Deputy, Hon. Denty Laven Jacob, assured that his administration will continue to fight crime by engaging the services of local hunters, Vigilante, and other quasi security personnels to ensure that lifes and properties of all citizens residing in the area are adequately protected.

He also caution that residents should always try to know their neighbours, be security concious and report any strange persons or suspicious movement around their vicinity to security operatives.

Kak’mena Audu Goteng commended the local hunters for the rare courage in rescuing the two kidnapped victims.
