The Plateau Our Heritage, (POH), has eulogies elected representatives in the state for working in alliance for the benefit of Plateau State despite their different political affiliations.
It expressed this delight shortly after the news of an announcement for the establishment of a federal polytechnic for the state.
The group in a press release signed by its Chairman, Hon Alex Kwapnoe and Convener, Hon Pam Ayuba Dangwong, it said the citing of the institution was timely and it’s for the advancement of technical education in Nigeria and for the government and people of plateau state.
“We wish to commend President Muhammadu Buhari for the timely set up of the polytechnic as we note with delight that the government, as a matter of policy of equity; approved the siting of the institution in all the states of the federation that presently do not have a federal polytechnic.
“The additional pleasure is the decision to site the polytechnic in the southern zone of Plateau which reflects a fair distribution of federal educational institutions in the state; vis a vis, University of Jos, northern zone; Federal College of Education, Pankshin; central zone and now federal polytechnic, Shendam”, he emphasised.
The also poured enconium on governor Simon Bako Lalong for his doggedness in ensuring that the dream was realised adding that “we are hopeful that the state and federal governments would work in harmony with one another in order to have a solid foundation for the smooth take off of the polytechnic”
It further appreciated his role in creating a “peaceful and enabling environment” for this, and urged him to swing into action to ensure that the announcement of the birth of the polytechnic become a major priority that the take off is commenced without hesitation and delay, especially with the take off grant of N 2bn for this purpose.
“The POH is particularly thankful to our national assembly members; past and present for their patriotic zeal in attracting federal presence in the state and we wish to task them to work towards more of these for the benefit of the electorates; whose mandate they are enjoying.
“Of particular interest, the POH is further pleased with the show of patriotism as exhibited by Hon. John Bull Shekarau, former house of representatives member representing Shendam/Qua’n Pan and Mikang federal constituency and his successor, Alphonsus Komsol who relentless pushed for the establishment of the institution on Plateau soil.
“Worthy of note, is the unity of purpose as exhibited by these personalities who though, went to the national assembly under different platforms; have refused to be divided by political inclinations; but stood for Plateau”
While pledging support for all efforts with direct bearings on the life of the Plateau people, it said it was elated that the political class in Plateau is speaking with one voice as these collaboration between those in the ruling party and those in opposition are yielding the desired results; all for the benefit of Plateau.
The group further appreciated the Minister of Women Affairs, Dame Pauline Tallen for giving women a sense of belonging; which is all in the Plateau spirit.
