In a bid to tackle the rising spate of armed criminality in Anambra State, the Commissioner of Police, Nnaghe Obono Itam, has launched a comprehensive offensive against armed criminals.

The initiative, which includes a training and retraining program, aims to enhance the operational efficiency of Police operatives, bolster crime prevention strategies, and empower officers to confront armed hoodlums and respond to distress calls with confidence and courage.

A statement by the command’s Spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga and made available to our correspondent in Onitsha stated that the CP made the remark on Wednesday July 3, 2024 as he led trainees to the shooting range and assessed the schedule of the ongoing training.

The Commissioner of Police reiterated the command’s commitment to improving public safety and enforcing law and order in the State.

Commissioner Itam issued a stern warning to those who have been misled into criminal activities to reconsider their actions and turn back from their harmful ways.

Mr.Itam emphasizes that the Police and other Security Agencies will not permit a small group of malcontents to create chaos and make life difficult for the citizens of Anambra State.

The statement read in part; “to this end, the CP warns those who were misled to take to crime to retrace their steps as the Police and other Security Agencies will not allow some disgruntled elements to make life unbearable for the residents of the state.”
