Recent unequivocal declaration of support for the continuity of President Tinubu and Governor Idris beyond 2027 by the major stakeholders forum of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Kebbi State, may have destabilised the political calculations of some ambitious politicians that have been in a state of hallucination over the direction of Kebbi State politics in 2027.
It all started at the maiden meeting of the All Progressive Congress stakeholders forum, when the visibly impressed and obviously satisfied members noted the level of development recorded in each sector of development within one year and unanimously passed a vote of absolute confidence on Comrade Governor Idris Kauran Gwandu.
Similarly, when the governor toured the local government areas to thank the people for their unflinching support, the turnout was unprecedented, and defection of members of the PDP to the APC was massive.
The reasons for the large turnout and massive defection were the same, as testified by the decampees.
They joyfully expressed satisfaction with the impactful developmental programmes and projects executed so far, the open door policy of the administration, the warm reception being accorded to people of all segments of the society and consistent generousity to the needy and less privileged families.
Again, they did not mince words while stating the fact that he has, beyond reasonable doubt, demonstrated the capacity and political will to transform Kebbi state positively to greater height.
As the state continue to witness the spread of results oriented programmes being executed by both the federal and state governments, it was observed that the giant strides were the products of the mutual respect and genuine loyalty of Comrade Governor Kauran Gwandu to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. On several occasions , President Tinubu had cause to acknowledge the dogedness and firmed commitment of Comrade Nasir Idris administration in improving the well-being of the people he holds very dear to his heart.
Latetly, an amalgamation of cooperatives and Associations, believed to have in several ways, benefited from Comrade Governor Idris’ economic empowerment programmes, organised a grand rally at Birnin Kebbi, to appreciate and support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Comrade Governor Nasir Idris Kaura’s continuity in 2027.
Therefore, the declaration of vote of confidence and support for the continuity of the two leaders by the kebbi state All Progressive Congress expanded stakeholders forum after a meeting last week, was an unambiguous endorsement of the earlier overwhelming concensus of the people of Kebbi State.
However, as political development unfolds in the state, fears are being expressed in some quarters of the alleged presence of some hypocrites around the governor whose loyalty to the Comrade Governor’s committed determination to change the state political narrative appeared to be questionable.
There are also similar allegations of some masquerades among the defectors whose interest is to either hijack the leadership of the party or manipulate appointments in the state of civil service and political positions in the pursuit of their political interest.
It is pertinent to remind whoever cares to listen that Comrade Governor Nasir Idris overwhelmingly won the governship election by the grace of God, dedication of his formidable and reliable campaign team made up prominent selfless political leaders and indeed the generality of the people of Kebbi State, despite all odds.
Other factors responsible for his victory were his track record of support and assistance to the needy philathropically, respect for elders regardless of political affiliation,fairness, and equity in his relationship with people of any status even before he ventured into partisan politics.
And now as the person at the helm of affairs in the state, Comrade Governor Kauran Gwandu has continue to touching the lives of the people including those in the remotest areas of the state, through the implementation and execution of many economic empowerment programmes and capital intensive projects that have changed the narrative of the socio-economic and political development of Kebbi State.
Therefore, whether or not the allegations are real and regardless of the alleged motives of any group or individual politician, there’s no cause for alarm as Comrade Governor Nasir Idris remains focused, committed and unshakeable, believing in destiny and the overwhelming support he and President Tinubu enjoys from the leadership of the party at all levels and the people of Kebbi State.
