Ramat cup:Kano in flying start, as team outclasses Rivers 7-1


Kano state outclassed Rivers state in the ongoing 38th edition of the Ramat cup with a 7-1 victory just as the defending champions Kawara got a 1-0 victory against Nasarawa state.
The results of other matches of the opening day included Osun state beating Ekiti state 2-1,Oyo state also pickled their maximum points with a 2-1 victory against Kebbi state,Sokoto and Bauchi played out a 2-2 draw while Gombe were 2-1 winners against Kaduna state.
The matches decided at Mahaha sports complex in Kano witnessed Abudullahi Isah of Kano scoring four of their team’s 7-1 victory against Rivers to maintain the leading scorer in the tournament.
Speaking after the game, Abdullahi Isah who said Wilfred Ndidi is his idol, noted that he was optimistic that his state would win all their matches to lift the trophy.
He said with the way they prepared with the support of the state government the only way they can appreciate is by winning the Ramat cup.
Also speaking the technical director of YSFON coach Abdulgafar Agboola said the federation was impressed with the calibre of players  of the participating team’s just as he noted that talents have been discovered in the opening day.
Agboola said more talents will be discovered as the tournament continues.
Meanwhile the game continues on Monday as Kwara takes on Kaduna,Nasarawa will confront Gombe in group B,Rivers and Ogun will slug it out as Kano battles Zamfara state in group A.
In group C,Lagos state and FCT will take to the pitch in the first game as FCT tackles Sokoto while Lagos again will take on Bauchi as they missed the opening game on Sunday. In group D,Kebbi and Osun will trade tackles and Ekiti will play against Oyo state.
