Remains of former President Shagari buried in own Shagari residence

The remains of former President Shehu Shagari, who died at the National Hospital Abuja on Friday was buried Saturday afternoon at his own residence in Shagari town of Sokoto State.
The Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal was among those who received the remains at 1pm at the Sultan Abubakar III International Airport, Sokoto.
The body of the late President arrived Shagari at around 2:17 pm in a military ambulance and after it was interred, the military surrounded the grave and performed the gun salute.
Shagari was interred at about 3:25pm after a funeral prayer was led by Professor Shehu Galadanci of the National Mosque, Abuja.
The Federal Government delegation was led by the Secretary to the Government of Federation, Boss Mustapha.
However, it was gathered that President Muhammadu Buhari, will visit Sokoto on Sunday to condole with the family of the late former President, whom he overthrew in a coup on December 31, 1983.
