By Alphonsus Nweze, Onitsha
Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s Chief Protocol and Deputy Chief of Staff, Mr. Chinedu Nwoye, has asked those who face molestation and abuse from agents of Anambra State Government to report such persons to the appropriate government quarters for necessary disciplinary actions.
Fielding questions from newsmen during the inauguration of Soludo Support Group (SSG) at Ogbaru Main Market, Onitsha, Anambra State, Nwoye popularly called “Glamour” said that no operative of any organisation of Anambra State should molest or manhandle any person in discharge of his/her duties.
Complaints from members of the public have traile the activities of operatives such organisations as Ocha Brigade, ARTMA and recently Anti-Cult groups who allegedly manhandle and physically abuse their victims.
But Nwoye said no agent of Anambra State Government should manhandle or abuse any person in course of his/her duties because they have been trained and briefed on how to carry out their duties with civility.
Glamour said if there is any person who is manhandled by those agents he should report to the appropriate authorities, promising that they would handle the matter dispassionately.
Earlier addressing the traders while inaugurating the Market’s branch of SSG, Glamour who is the chairman of the group said one of the benefits of setting up the group was to counter fake news being peddled by enemies of Soludo ‘s Government in social media.
He said that the inauguration was to get them informed about the activities of the State Government which he said include the construction of roads in the State which the traders are beneficiaries, a new General Hospital at Okpoko among others.
He promised that more projects were on the way for them , expressing pleasure that the traders in the market had already bought into the solidarity group with the large number of people that joined the group.
He outlined other Soludo”s achievements to include the recruitment of 8,115 teachers, palm and coco-nut planting, free anti-natal care for pregnant women including cesarian operations.
Nwoye then urged the traders to change the negative narrative being peddled by the enemies of this government by telling others the true situation of things in the State.
In his speech, the president of Ogbaru Main Market, Chief Ndubuisi Ochiogu , said that the traders of the market were committed to supporting Soludo’s programmes and his second tenure.
He said that was the reason they came out in great number to join the solidarity group.
Ochiogu said the success and turn out would have been higher if not for the death of their chairman, Board of Trustees (BoT)Chief Samuel Mendu.
Ochiogu assured that their support for Soludo would not waiver, saying that Ogbaru market is fully an APGA market.
