Anambra State Internal Revenue Service says it is committed to fighting illegal taxation in the state.
The Chairman of the Agency, Dr. David Nzekwu, gave the assurance in his office while speaking to newsmen.
According to him the revenue service has been having challenges of managing people who set up revenue collection as a private business in the state.
On the issue of tax payment, Dr. Nzekwu, said that the revenue service under his watch has adopted the use of digital demand notice and digital receipts system in order to help in the digitization of payment into government coffers.
He added that the issuance of digital receipt which has QR code is to enable people verify the authenticity of the receipt.
The Revenue Chairman said the adoption is paramount to preventing the issuance of unauthorized demand notices to people who pay to the wrong accounts instead of government account.
Dr. Nzekwu encouraged tax payers to always pay as at when due, to avoid penalties.
