A ghastly motor accident has claimed the lives of 20 passengers who were burnt to ashes while one person was injured when two commercial vehicles from opposite directions collided at Huturu village, 57km along the ever busy Bauchi–Kano road.
According to Bauchi State Command of the Federal Roads Safety Corps (FRSC), the fatal accident occurred at 1130hrs but was reported at1138hrs1150hrs taking the personnel 12 minutes to reach the scene.
A First Information Report (FIR) from Ganjuwa Station Office of FRSC contained that 2 vehicles were involved, a Golf 3 Volkswagen with registration number SHD184YU and a mini bus Wagon a Sharon
The probable cause of accident according to the FRSC was speed limit violation (SPV)
The 20 people killed in the accident comprised 11 Male Adults, 5 Female Adults, 1 Male Child and 3 Female Children while the total number of 21 people comprising 12 Male Adults, 5 Female Adults, 1 Male Child and 3 Female Children were involved.
Action taken by personnel of FRSC was that the injured victim was taken to Kafin Madaki General Hospital for treatment while all the burnt corpses were buried at Huturu Village.
The rescue operation was carried out by FRSC personnel in Ganjuwa LGA Station, NPF personnel in Kafin Madaki Division as well as both State and Airport Fire Services as stated by DRC KM Chadi STO,, Ganjuwa LGA.
