Salem Academy Abuja to continue enhancing tolerance, unity in diversity

Salem Academy, Lugbe, Abuja has pledge to continue enhancing tolerance and unity in diversity amongst Nigeria.
Miss Abidemi Emmanuel, chairperson of the 9th cultural day celebration of Salem Academy, Lugbe, in it’s 14th years of existence, said in Abuja on Saturday that this year’s theme is: Cultural integration, a tool for unity in diversity.
According to her, “Cultural integration is a tool for fostering unity in diversity between different cultures that have been interacting, it leads to mutual understanding, tolerance and appreciation of each others, tradition and values. It is my firm belief that recognition of our diverse culture can help build a sense of belonging and shared identity.
“The skills exhibited by the children, includes traditional dances, cultural displays, fashion shows, art works, paintings amongst others. I call on Ministry for Arts and culture and relevant agencies to encourage the young generation to appreciate and feel proud of our cultures,” she said.

Miss Abidemi said that culture is not static, it changes as humans evolve. It is noteworthy that, the national anthem of Nigeria admonishes that, “We live in love and honestly to grow”. She said.
In his remarks, chairman of Parents Teachers Association of the Academy, Alhaji Mustapha Shettima Pindar calls on Nigerians to tolerate one another, embrace peace and respect the diverse cultures of different ethnic groups in country.
The Administrator of the Academy, Mr Audu Abraham disclosed that the Academy is enhancing the growth and development of Nigerian Languages by Teaching Hausa, Yoruba and Igbo languages.
The event excites with cultural displays of clothes, food amongst others categorized in the six Geo political zones of Nigeria.
