It is with heavy hearts that we mourn the untimely passing of Salisu Yakubu Jajere, the Head of the Procurement Unit at ATBU Teaching Hospital Bauchi. A man whose generosity and compassion left an indelible mark on all who knew him, Salisu Jajere was more than just a colleague or a friend; he was a lifeline to many, a symbol of hope and strength. His selfless good deeds extended far beyond the ordinary, and his sudden loss has left an immeasurable void.

It remains difficult to comprehend why those who stand tallest in the forest, like the mighty Iroko tree, often fall too soon. Salisu Jajere was a rare breed—a man who fearlessly faced life’s challenges with courage and grace. He fought many battles—against injustice, against suffering—and his victories were not for himself, but for those he served. Like the fearless warrior who shares water with a lion’s skull, he was steadfast in the face of adversity, always standing for what was right and just.

Salisu Jajere was not just a man of words; he was a man of action. His humanitarian deeds were not occasional acts of charity—they were the essence of his being. Whether leading prayers, quietly supporting those in need, or extending a helping hand to friends, family, and colleagues without seeking recognition, his generosity was boundless. He gave daily—financially, emotionally, and spiritually—never showing signs of weariness.

It was common for people to collect money on his behalf without him even knowing, yet he would still repay. Such was his character, a man of immense trustworthiness and integrity. His commitment to high standards in both his personal and professional life made him a loyal confidant to many, including the entire hospital community, with whom he shared a dedication to doing things the right way, without compromise.

At home, Salisu Jajere was a loving husband to his two wives and a devoted father to his children. He lived his life in accordance with the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW), and his faith was reflected in his humility, kindness, and grace. To his family, friends, and colleagues, he was more than a provider—he was a mentor, a pillar of strength, and an inspiration to all who knew him. His sudden passing, after being healthy and active just hours before on Monday, October 14, 2024, has left us all deeply shaken.

The outpouring of grief from all corners is a reflection of the profound impact he had on everyone around him. Tears have been shed, and words of sorrow spoken, as friends and family gather to remember a man who gave so much of himself to others. His legacy is one of kindness, service, and a tireless commitment to uplifting those in need.

May Allah (SWT) forgive his shortcomings, shower His mercy upon him, and grant him the highest place in Jannatul Firdaus. May He also grant his family, friends, and the entire community the strength and fortitude to bear this immense loss. It is our prayer that Allah will bless us with another like Salisu Yakubu Jajere—someone whose goodness, generosity, and dedication to humanity will continue to light our paths.

Salisu Jajere’s death reminds us all of the inevitable end we will face, but his legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of those who had the privilege of knowing him. He was more than a man; he was a movement of kindness, and his memory will continue to inspire us all.

Surely, he will be missed, but his spirit of selflessness will live on in the countless lives he touched.

Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un.
Rest in Peace, Jajere.
