Sallah to be low-keyed- Plateau government

Plateau State is to adopt greater enforcement of existing Covid-19 protocols during the Sallah celebrations which comes up on Friday.

The state Governor, Simon Lalong disclosed this at a press conference where he hinted that the decision was based on the outcome of the meeting between government and other stakeholders in the state.

According to him, the prayers at Eid grounds be suspended in the State and restricted to Friday Mosques only, while at the same time observing all Covid-19 protocols by all faithful.

Also, all festivities; including visits to recreational Centers be halted and residents should strictly use Face Masks during the occasion and especially children conveying food items to neighbours, he emphasised.

The elderly people, who are theost vulnerable to the virus, he stressed,  are encouraged to stay at home especially as movement of commercial vehicles is to be restricted, except on emergency cases.

The governor also declared a “two day suspension on tricycles movement shall be observed before and after the prayers, that is  31st July –1st August, 2020, while the Federal Government curfew from 10:00 pm to 4:00 am shall be enforced.”
