The recent Sallah Walima celebration honoring Magajin Garin Jama’a, Alhaji Abubakar Sadik Muhammad Isa in Kafanchan of Kaduna State focused on encouraging young people to get involved in politics, invest in their communities and tackle drug abuse.
In a welcome address, Jama’a Council Secretary, Mujammad Adamu Sani Jagaba, stressed the urgency for cooperation among all stakeholders. Despite the short notice, elders extended their assurance of support, emphasizing the need for youth engagement in societal affairs.
The First Speaker, Mallam Abubakar Sadik Tahir underscored the pivotal role of youth in political participation, urging them to eschew negative practices like thuggery and ballot snatching while emphasizing the importance of skill acquisition alongside political involvement.
Addressing the scourge of drug abuse, Lifidin Jama’a Alhaji (Dr) Bashir Idris highlighted its detrimental effects on society, advocating for a multi-pronged approach involving primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention strategies, including community involvement and legislative measures.
Albert Esike, the UBA manager, Kafanchan branch, emphasized the significance of social investment in fostering sustainable development within communities, echoing the sentiment shared by the Chairman of the occasion, Alh. Adamu Isa Tanko, who pledged to enhance the annual event’s impact.
In his closing remarks, the celebrant, Magajin Garin Jama’a Alhaji Abubakar Sadik Muhammad Isa emphasized the importance of intergenerational dialogue in addressing societal challenges, calling for mentorship programs to bridge the gap between youths and elders, ensuring a prosperous and harmonious future for all.
