SD Academy Emerges champions of Madakiya Peace Soccer Tournament

In an electrifying final match that drew hundreds of supporters from across Southern Kaduna, SD Academy, Kafanchan from Jema’a Local Government Area emerged champions of the Madakiya Peace Soccer Tournament after defeating Madakiya United of Zangon Kataf LGA with a convincing 3-1 victory.

The final marked the culmination of a tournament that featured 18 teams from across the Southern Kaduna Senatorial District.

The tournament, held at the Government Secondary School (GSS) Madakiya Playground, was a celebration of sportsmanship and unity. The exciting finale was witnessed by dignitaries, traditional rulers, and community members, all gathered to promote the message of peace and harmony.

In their post-match speeches, Mr. Yusuf Duniya, the sponsor of the tournament, and the league’s coordinator, Mr. Lucius Sylvester, emphasized that the aim of the event is to restore the past glory of peaceful coexistence in Southern Kaduna. “Through this tournament, we are building bridges of unity among the diverse communities in the region,” said Mr. Sylvester. Both speakers also called on stakeholders to increase their support for similar initiatives to further strengthen peace and unity.

The traditional ruler of Bajju, His Royal Highness the Agom Kajju HRH Luka Kogi Yabuwat expressed his appreciation for the tournament organizers. He commended their efforts in using sports as a tool to promote peace and enhance relationships among Southern Kaduna communities, irrespective of tribe or religion. “This initiative greatly boosts the reputation of our Chiefdom and fosters unity,” the Agom Kajju remarked.

The tournament’s third-place position was claimed by GYP Garage, while Madakiya United finished as runners-up. The competition also recognized exceptional performances with awards presented to outstanding players and teams:

Ibrahim Shu’aibu (Lali, SD Academy): Most Valuable Player

Noel Aminu (Achim FC): Best Player

The Madakiya Peace Soccer Tournament has not only been a platform for showcasing talent but also a unifying force, strengthening the bonds among the diverse communities of Southern Kaduna. As the tournament continues to grow in prominence, it remains a beacon of hope for a peaceful and harmonious future in the region.
