'Sex for marks' professor fired from OAU
The professor involved in the “sex for marks” scandal at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, has been sacked from the university for gross misconduct.
Richard Akindele’s sack follows his suspension after he was outed in an audio call recording for having demanded sex in exchange for upgrading a female student’s exam score.
The recording went viral in April, prompting investigation.
OAU vice-chancellor Eyitope Ogunbodede announced the university’s decision to fire the professor after the school’s governing council sat on Wednesday.
The council concluded Akindele’s relationship with the student, named as Osagie, was inappropriate.
Akindele admitted to the relationship.(Daily Trust)
