The late Agom Adara
The slayed Agom Adara Dr. Maiwada Galadima II was Saturday laid to rest in Kachia, Kaduna State with a caution from the Catholic Archbishop of Kaduna Diocese, Most Rev. Matthew Man-Oso Ndagoso, against unwarranted statements and government must be seen to be fair to all.
Apex News reports that the requiem mass at St. John’s Catholic Church, Kachia, was amidst tight security in and around the town.
Archbishop Ndagoso pointed out that if lasting peace must be achieved the first condition was to remove the causes of disagreement among the different sectors of the society.
According to him, such areas of disentment are excessive economic inequalities, disregard for people’s rights, systemic and deliberate policies of exclusion and distrust among others.
He said: “This calls for a change of heart and deliberate efforts at promotion of common good. If we must achieve lasting peace in our dear state, there is an urgent need for coordination of efforts of all stakeholders, namely political, religious and traditional rulers.”
The Archbishop said the challenge in Nigeria is not a war between Christians and Muslims because adherents of the two religions are not at war with each other.
The clergy said Nigeria is at war with fanatics, kidnappers, terrorists and opportunists who are criminals in every sense of the word, killing and maiming innocent people regardless of religion, ethnicity and political leanings.
He charged those with the constitutional duty of protecting and securing lives and property to go after them.
