The ongoing conflict between the Office of Accountant General, Head of Service and Nigerian Labour Congress over biometric verification and data capturing of Taraba State workers has been resolved.
The resolution followed three hours meeting at the Ministry of Finance, Thursday by Head of Service, Dr. Ahmed Kara, Account General of the State, Gaius Danjuma, NLC Chairman, Comrade Peter Jediel, Director SSS and committee members for staff verification and data capturing respectively.
Speaking with our correspondent shortly after the meeting, committee chairman on staff verification and data capturing, Abdulkadir Haruna Abubakar said all lingering crises surrounding staff verification and data capturing have been amicably resolved during the meeting.
Abdulkadir pointed that insemination making the round that the state was on fire has been put to rest as exercise has commenced, adding that about 1,000 civil servants are targeted to be captured in today’s exercise despite late commencement.
According to him, the exercise has started from the office of accountant General, Ministry of Finance and State Board of Internal Revenue (BIR) and it’s expected to last for one month.
The State Accountant General, Gaius Danjuma described the purported insemination crisis around the state as unfounded.
According to him, Staff biometric verification and data capturing was normal exercise carried out in various places and states and was not peculiar to Taraba alone.
He denied the rifts between his office, NLC and Head of Service pointing out that the issue of grey areas has been resolved accordingly and civil servants have equally been addressed.
“You can see all of us shaking hands together, laughing and matching out from the meeting, no conflicts, no fighting, all of us are working together for a common goal and i am happy everything went amicably”, he started.
It will be recalled that on Tuesday 4th March, 2025, the organized labour in the state under the auspices of (NLC) and (TUC) had issued notice to civil servants in the state to stay away from the biometric exercise billed to commence on Wednesday 5th March until the crisis was over.
Both joint letters were signed by NLC state secretary Comrade Buba Adamu Wadumayi and his counterpart from TUC Comrade Paulina Ishaya and made available to newsmen in the state, as all efforts to speak with state NLC Chairman Comrade Peter Jediel proved unsuccessful.
