Taraba State Government has dismissed rumors making the rounds that the Deputy Governor, Alhaji Aminu Abdullahi Alkali is seriously ill and unable to speak.
Describing the rumour as unfounded, malicious, shocking and baseless propagated by mischief-makers, the Information and Reorientation Officer in deputy governor’s office, James Jibaniya underscores the need to prioritize truth and unity over divisiveness and rumours.
In a press statement issued Thursday, it categorically states that the deputy governor is healthy and sound.
“While it is true that his Excellency experienced a brief health challenge some weeks ago due to stress, it was promptly addressed. He is now sound and healthy and resting to recover fully before resuming his official duties.
“I urge those spreading these falsehoods to desist immediately as such actions mislead the public and are harmful to society. Spreading fake and unverified information about a leader is not only irresponsible but also detrimental to the community’s well-being.
“The deputy governor will soon return to his duties, for now, he is in Abuja with his principal supporting the governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas during this challenging time for their family,” the statement concluded.
The deputy governor’s aide urged the public to be wary of such unverified information especially on the dangers it portrays to the larger society.
