Taraba Governor Kefas signs 3-year strategic partnership on various sectors with Finland

Taraba State Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas and Mika Penttila the Deputy Mayor of the City of Oulu and Director of Educational Services of Finland have entered a three-year city-to-city strategic partnership with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at fostering collaboration in the areas of education, health and mining development.
This is aimed at a shared commitment to advancing these key sectors for mutual benefits.
On education, the collaboration is geared towards enhancing academic exchanges, facilitating knowledge transfer and expanding vocational training within Taraba State and upskilling of teachers, promoting collaborative research initiatives between educational institutions in Taraba State and Oulu city in Finland.
The partnership seeks to provide students and scholars with valuable opportunities to broaden their perspectives and contribute to global knowledge.
In the health sector, the MoU underscores the commitment of both entities to work together in addressing healthcare challenges, sharing best practices and promoting the exchange of medical expertise to improve healthcare infrastructure, enhance medical services and contribute to the well-being of the communities in both regions.
On mining development, the agreement reflects a joint effort to leverage on the expertise and resources of each other for sustainable mining practices to promote responsible mining, environmental conservation and the development of innovative technologies in the mining sector as well as fostering economic growth and environmental stewardship.
The Memorandum of Understanding further signifies not only a diplomatic collaboration but also a shared vision for a future marked by progress, cooperation, and mutual development.
On the entourage of Governor Kefas were the Taraba State Commissioner for Education, Dr. Augustina Godwin and that of Justice, Yakubu Maikasuwa, SAN and Chairman, House of Assembly Committee on Education, Josiah Yaro.
