Taraba governor urges women to participate in his administration to reap more dividends of democracy

Taraba State Governor, Darius Dickson Ishaku has asked women to participate in his Administration programmes to reap more dividends of democracy.

The Governor who was represented by the Chief of Staff, Istifanus Gbana said this at event organised to marked International Women’s day by National Council For Women Societies (NCWS), at Gym Hall,Jolly Nyame Stadium Jalingo.

Governor Ishaku explained that women should actively participate in politics to enable them contribute to natiins’ building.

Ishaku cited Uganda a country in Africa with highest women legislators as well as NIGERIA Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala the World Trade Organization,Director General, to serve as challenge and role model.

Governor Darius Ishaku urged women to join the political race,noting that they should support their fellow women in politics to succeed.

He lauded the NCWS for mentoring women across the state to be good ambassadors and nation builders.

On her part wife of the Governor Anna Darius Ishaku represented by wife of Secretary to the State Government SSG Josephine Jellason lamented the marginalisation of women in the society and sued for change .

The Governor’s wife urged all to support the campaign on Gender Based Violence GBV for a better society.

Anna Darius Ishaku lauded the National Council for Women Societies NCWS Taraba state chapter for celebrating International Women’s Day.

She Appreciated them for finding her worthy to be presented with an award.

Earlier,the Taraba state president, National Council for Women Societies,NCWS,Punarimam Atenji says International Women’s day is almost collective day of global Celebration a call for gender parity.

Punarimam Atenji explained that the day is about unity, Celebration, reflection, Advocacy and an event which has been occuring for well over a century and grows continuously.

She remarked that the theme”Women in leadership,Choose to challenge”, the saying leadership is a relay, successful replacement of successors, delegation of task but not responsibilities,not seeking for power but empowerment.

Punarimam revealed that the Celebration in Taraba state was kicked started with roadwalk,visits to correctional facility,orphanages and prayers,as it been rounded up with swards presentation to some personalities.

She lauded the Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku and his wife Anna Darius Ishaku for Touching lives of Tarabans.
She Advocate for free Education for girl child,support for construction of its headquarters, and attitudinal change about girl child support.

Paper presentations were featured on “Choose to challenge” by Frida Bahago, “Women In Leadership’s”by Felister Musa,”Mentoring”by Chilean Peace Jonathan.
Responding on behalf of awardees,Speaker Taraba state House of Assembly Joseph Albasu Kunini represented by his chief of staff, Sukuji Bakoji thanked the NCWS for finding them worthy of awards.
Joseph revealed that increasing cases of rape and gender discrimination moved him to sponsor a Bill on Taraba state Violence and Discrimination against Person Prohibition twenty twenty one that has recently been passed into law by the House of Assembly awaiting Governor’s assent.

At the event, Governor Ishaku was presented with an award for being a Gender Friendly Governor, his Wife Anna Darius Ishaku award of excellence, Speaker Taraba state House of Assembly, Joseph Albasu Kunini, among others for their support to NCWS.
