The unstoppable Jagban of Africa – Lessons therefrom

One significant thing I have learnt from Tinubu’s political trajectory is his ability to effortlessly ignore the mockery of his political opponents. His determination is so strong on matters he believed.
Between 2015 and 2024, he had to prove that. In 2015, he wanted Lawan and Gbajabiamila to lead the 8th NASS but he was outsmart. He merely smiled and maintained a sordid cool. He returned to his political chess board. What went wrong, he wanted to know?
In fact, Ayo Adebanjo of Afenifere ridiculed him the more, described him as a ludo player who wanted to play chess in Abuja. It was celebration time for those in the haters camp. Tinubu continued his silent revolution. Do not joke with men who talk so little. They are silent planners. I see that in Tinubu & the Edo Governor-Elect.
Tinubu saw the promised land, so the red sea was not going to be a source of distraction.
In 2019, Tinubu without any political office outshone the coupists of 2015. His support for Lawan and Gbajabiamila yielded fruits in the 9th NASS. Senator Dr Ahmed Lawan became the 9th Senate President and Rt Hon Femi Gbajabiamila became Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives.
I am aware, serious planners do not make needless noises or engage in an unimpactful debates. I hope Rufai Oseni of AriseTv is reading this.
Like Pharaoh, Tinubu’s enemies refused to learn despite and inspite the plague that swept them away from the NASS leadership. Instead, they regrouped. This time in Edo State, with the help of some fifth columnists or cabals in the Presidential villa, they defeated his party. In his usual characteristics, he was not angry but he knew something was wrong. He returned to his political chess-board. He identified where the failure came. He did not exchange banter.
Fortunately for Jagban, his mockers are short-sighted characters.Tinubu remained adamant just like Moses of old. Tinubu was so sure of where he was going. Four years after, Tinubu defeated them in Edo State. They are now shouting – they rigged. What a shameless way to defend one’s inadequacy. I have since known, in Nigerian politics, elections are never won. In the eyes of the oppositions elections are rigged. Deleterious mentality. Isn’t it?
At a time, they orchestrated attack on his person. EndSars was the avenue and physical attacks were launched against his person. A group of rascal youths assembled @ Lekki Tollgate claiming it belonged to Tinubu. They ended by declaring Tinubu wanted….”oh…he is in Paris, get him out here”, “no he is in the UK, just get him here”. His properties were wantonly destroyed. On a live radio programme, a character but now a captured terrorist, encouraged his low-minded supporters to get Tinubu by whatever means. Trust the Lion of Bourdillion, he appeared from the blues on a TV to denied the mischievous rumoured, and said “I am in Lagos, I am still the Asiwaju of Lagos. What else? This was before the electioneering campaigns began.
What amazed me the most, is how the eagle landed at the presidential Villa. I mean how he became the chief landlord of Aso Rock. Let us recount the various mischief or scenarios.
Wait a minute. Where are the fake, hungry and eye-service pastors?
Against all odds, against the machinations of evil minded characters, he manoeuvred brilliantly to their astonishment. OBJ openly supported another candidate from another region. Then the CBN magic. The coloration of the naira at the most inauspicious time of our political life. The cabals at the power house introduced fuel scarcity – deliberate attempt to frustrate him. Then a group of youngsters emerged from nowhere, by a sobquiety name (dis)-obidient. They even waxed a lyric … leg de shake, hand de shake, papa wen no well they shout emi lokan… Prof W Soyinka was incensed and intervened, reminding them in our African culture, children do not disrespect elders for whatever reason.
Just a reminder, Professor Wole Soyinka was awarded the 1986 Nobel Prize in Literature for his “wide cultural perspective and…the first sub-Saharan African to win the Prize in literature. He was insulted and disparaged big time.
Do not blame these children with their minimalistic mentality. Do they read? Let us tolerate their nuisance.
However, in the face of these discordant voices and manipulations, Tinubu went before his Creator.
God, in His Sovereign Majesty looked down and asked…son what do you want?….Tinubu replied…good health, wisdom to lead and political success…
God smiled and said…GRANTED. You have it as you desired”.
That is the genesis of…e lo fokan bale, a ma dibo, a ma wole…
not many of his adherents, not to talk of his opponents realised the import of that phrase.
Tinubu is now in the powerhouse as ordained by God Almighty, against all predictions of fake Pastors. His enemies are still hungry for the red sea, may be they will get it by 2027. But that is not in the horizon. God willing, it is 4+4=8 for Jagban.
For your ears only. Are the pessimists reading? PBAT inherited a reserve of over $33 billion 16 months ago. His administration has succeeded in paying back the inherited foreign exchange backlog to the tune of $7 billion. PBAT administration has cleared the ways & means debt of over N30 trillion.
Do you know what that means in the eyes of our foreign trading partners? He has reduced the debt service ratio from 97 per cent to 68 per cent. Despite all these giant strides in our foreign and local components, PBAT administration has managed to keep our foreign reserve at $37 billion.
Make no mistake, PBAT has repeatedly told us, he is aware there is hunger and high cost of transportation in the land. Those are his focal points. Since we have substantially redeemed our image internationally. Foreign investors now have confidence in us. Emirates Airlines flew into Murtala Mohammed Airport, Lagos, yesterday. The last time Emirates flew the Nigerian airspace was about two or three years ago.
Now time to focus on our domestic matters. NNPCL/Dangote Refinery began trading in naira component. That in itself is an inspiring news.
Gestation season is almost over. Harvest season is at the corner. Hunger is over God willing.
I am not kidding you.
