The Lagos State chapter of the Federation of Tourism Associations of Nigeria (FTAN), is to hold its maiden “Lagos Tourism, Hospitality, Arts and Culture Economic Summit” (LATHACE 2021) on March 25, to address the needs of the tourism industry post COVID-19.
Mr Gbenga Sunmonu, FTAN Coordinator, Lagos chapter, who announced this on Friday, said that the intensive meeting, due to hold at Eko Hotels, Victoria Iskand, Lagos, would attract stakeholders from the public and private sectors to discuss issues that touch on the tourism, hospitality and art industries.
”The programme is the first of its kind with an objective to solve specific industry needs.“It is a platform for private-public sector interaction, whereby Lagos state ministries that relate directly with tourism, hospitality, arts and culture will have their desks set up for interaction and information dissemination.
”This is to resolve issues and set up the agenda for the way forward post COVID-19.
”The program will be a hybrid summit, which will be both onsite and online, with Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu as the Special Guest of Honour and Mr. Olaniyi Yusuf, Managing Partner for Verraki Partners, as Guest Speaker,” he said.
Sunmonu noted that the panelists will consist of the state Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs Uzamat Akinbile-Yusuf, Chief Sam Alabi, among other dignitaries.
He urged all concerned stakeholders to endeavour to attend the summit to brainstorm on ways forward for the industry.Otunba Ayo Olumoko, the Vice President, FTAN South-West zone, said that the summit was being organised at the right time, as the industry had suffered the most during the COVID-19 pandemic.
He said the platform would enable the various stakeholders fashion a direction on the way forward for the industry. (NAN)
