The absence of one of the lawyers of the suspects in the murder case of the President -General of Umuoji in Idemili Local Area of Anambra State, Chief Silas Onyima, has stalled the hearing of the matter.

Six persons had earlier been arraigned in Onitsha High Court presided by Justice Alexious Okuma, for murder, conspiracy, armed robbery and for receiving stolen property which they all pleaded not guilty.

Those arraigned are Okechukwu Igwe, Makua Igwe who are brothers, Okeke Echezona, Chibuike Asimole, Mmodu Arinze Kinsely and Uroko Jonathan Chukwuemeka.

When the case come up for hearing last Friday counsel to the two of the suspects was not in court.

When the presiding Judge, Justice Okuma asked for their lawyer, they said he was coming all the way from Porthacourt, Rivers State.

Justice Okuma said they could not go ahead with the case without their lawyer because the matter carries capital offence.

He directed them to ensure that their lawyer would be around on the next adjourned date on June 28, 2024.

But the mother of the two Igwe brothers, Mrs Elizabeth Igwe, had cried foul over the alleged roping in of his children in the murder.

He had called on the Police hierarchy and all the authority concerned to carry out a fresh investigation into the murder of the PG.

She had specifically asked the security operatives to look at those close to Chief Onyima especially the Personal Assistant, Mr Emaka Eneghu, who brought a bag to his son Makua in the night of that unfortunate incident.
