University of Calabar undergrad carts away N1m maiden talent hunt show

A budding 20-year gospel singer, Pat Nyambi, public health science undergraduate of University of Calabar has won the maiden edition of Royal Talents Hunt in Calabar.
Organisers of the show, which climaxed yesterday, declared the top prize winner from the 20 finalists.
They were camped for nearly a month but the finalists were grilled for a week before Nyambi who has one album yet titled Gratitude, emerged overall winner and smiled away with princely sum of N1million.
Chairman of the Royal Talents Hunt planning committee, Diara Charles who herself is the grand prize winner, One House reality TV last year, explained that the Talents Hunt seeks to discover and empower potential youth talents in Nigeria.
She said they partner with popular business brands in Cross River State and beyond to promote budding Nigerian youths in arts, science and creativity.
Charles disclosed that after the period of the show, they give the winners as brand ambassadors to the various brands and carry out promotional tasks for them.
“The Royal Talents Hunt aims at discovering young talents in African youths. We do not limit. We look at any natural and innate gifts in them.
“The various categories were dance, singing, drama, spoken word (art of speaking), science and Art category.
“The competition was for youths from ages 17 – 30 years. We registered over 1000 contestants. They passed through three stages of screening. Eventually, we got 20 finalists who were camped for five days in the Royal House of Fame and groomed on their various talent fields.”
The first runner up, a singer as well, Sebastiano, won N300,000 while the 2nd Runner up, an upcoming comedian, Mc Mummy’s Boy, got N100,000.
His Holiness Olumba Olumba Obu, the spirituall head of Brotherhood of the Cross and Star, sponsored the talents hunt as part of his birthday festivities which climaxed yesterday.
