USADF, Kebbi Government sign $10m MoU for small-holder businesses

The United States African Development Foundation (USADF) and the Governor of Kebbi State, Alhaji Atiku Bagudu will on Thursday sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) stating their intention to work together to support smallholder farmer cooperatives, producer associations and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Kebbi State.
The ceremony will take place at Kebbi State Governor’s Lodge, Asokoro Abuja.
In an statement emailed to Apex News from the US Embassy in Abuja said USADF and Kebbi State Government will enter into a five-year, $10 million dollar agreement, with each contributing $1 million a year to the program.
According to the statement, the partnership will focus on three value chains in the region: rice, dairy and groundnuts and the goals are to increase Kebbi State’s market competitiveness and increase incomes and yields for community enterprises and individual farmers.
