USAID IHP commend journalists NGO for effective, sustainable health reporting

Members of Journalists for Public Health Development Initiatives (J4PD), a journalists formed NGO have been tasked on effective and sustainable reportage of health related issues for attention. 

The charge was made by the Bauchi State Director of USAID funded Integrated Health Program (IHP), Dr Siaka Alhassan at the opening of a 2 day workplan development meeting of the NGO held at Chartwell Hotel, Misau on Tuesday. 

He commended members of the NGO for their resolve to work in one of the delicate areas of journalism, health reporting which he said is all about Humanitarian services to the public. 

Alhassan said that their efforts has been noted by the Country Director of USAID who has created interest in supporting the NGO in areas of sustainable health reporting for development. 

He however urged them not limit their sources of funding to one place but partner with relevant agencies as many as possible in order to expand their horizons of sponsorship and funding. 

Represented by the Director Finance of IHP, Daniel Yerima, the State Director of IHP stressed the need for J4PD to develop an implementable workplan in order to attract partnership and funding. 

Earlier, Coordinator of J4PD, Ms Elizabeth Kah commended USAID IHP for training members of the NGO on the rudiments of health journalism which is a specialized area of the profession. 

She also particularly appreciated USAID IHP for funding and facilitating the workplan development meeting saying that it will put the NGO on the firm stand at the end. 

The J4PD Coordinator then charged members to actively participate in the workplan development in order to have a starting point for operation as well as ensure that the NGO win partnership and collaborations.
