The wife of the President, Hajiya Aisha Buhari, called on women and youths in the North-East region of the country to vote massively for President Muhammadu Buhari in the February 16 presidential election to enable him take Nigeria to the next level of development.
Hajiya Buhari made the appeal recently at the multi – purpose indoor sports hall Bauchi during a one-day town hall meeting for women and youths in the six states of the region which includes Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Yobe and Taraba for the forthcoming 2019 general election.
Represented by the wife of the Vice President, Mrs. Dolapo Osinbajo, Aisha stated that the Buhari administration has done a lot not only for women and youths alone but also for the country in general.
According to her, the administration embarked on unprecedented infrastructural development, Social Investment Programme, creation of job opportunities, including the N-Power scheme programme, the school feeding programme and the anchor borrower scheme for farmers to benefit.
These, she said, are some of the programmes the administration has embarked upon in the last three and half years to better the lots of Nigerians.
She, however, urged women and youths to protect their permanent voter’s cards (PVCs) with which they will vote on the day of election and also protect their votes.
According to her, “Wait after voting and don’t go home uptill after the counting. President Buhari is going to take Nigeria to the next level. So we are soliciting your votes.”
In her welcoming remarks, the wife of Bauchi State governor, Hajiya Hadiza Abubakar, called on the eligible voters in North-East and across the country to vote for President Buhari.
While appreciating the good working relationship between the state government and the good people of the state under the watchful eyes of sweet husband appealed to the people of Bauchi State to continue to support Governor Mohammed Abubakar and vote for his reelection in the general election for more dividend of democracy.
In his speech, Governor Abubakar, said that his government has improved the economy of Bauchi State, adding that his administration gave loans to the farmers to boost agriculture in the state.
The governor, who was represented by his deputy, Audu Sule Katagum, further stated that the Federal Government’s trader money has really improved the standard living of the people.
Addressing the gathering, Chairman, National Working Committee Women and Youth Presidential Campaign, General Muhammad Buba Marwa (rtd), called on women voters in the North-East, particularly supporters of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), not to use the popular henna before the Election Day.
He said that with henna in their fingers the card reader machines will not be able to recognize their finger prints.
General Marwa added that the ink to be used in the thumb print will not stick to the thumbs thereby making it difficult for them to cast valid votes for the APC candidates, particularly President Muhammadu Buhari.
He urged the youth to ensure that they collect their PVCs because, according to him, without valid PVC they will not be able to cast their votes for the APC.
