We can’t pretend Nigeria is not at war – Fayemi

Governor of Ekiti State and a Presidential aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Kayode Fayemi says Nigerians cannot pretend that the country is not at war.

The Governor stated this in Jalingo, Taraba State in continuation of his nationwide visit to canvass for votes from APC delegates across the country.

Kayode described the security challenges bedevilling Nigeria as cumulative over a period of time which did not start during the present regime.

He said the problems could best be tackled first by looking at the root cause via Law and order, recruitment of required security operatives and effective use of our traditional institutions as well as improvement of the technological architecture of the country.

The Presidential aspirant further said to properly address these challenges it is very important to look at the level of poverty, inequality and unemployment rate and try to bridge the gap which if not properly checked Nigeria will be consumed.

He said a prosperous and accountable Nigeria is possible inspite of all the daunting challenges but the Constitution must address the issue of diversity to strengthen the bond of Unity of the country saying that in spite of the problems Nigeria is worth fighting for.

According to him, “It is also paramount to acknowledge the position of climate change and desertification”.

He said open grazing is out dated but the Government should be mindful of the host communities to form partnership for it to succeed.

Kayode said when given the mandate he will first establish a leadership training institute where all categories of Nigerians in leadership positions will be trained to squarely face the onerous tasks of their responsibilities.

He said he has a special plan for Nigerian women which he has done in Ekiti State and will replicate same il throughout the country to give women more sense of belonging if he becomes President. Kayode said Taraba State is the most beautiful in Nigeria and the beauty and splendor endeared him to the State and promised to tab its natural endowment particularly in the Mambilla Plateau when he becomes President.

In his remarks, a former Deputy Governor in Taraba State and a stalwart of the APC Barrister Uba Maigari thanked the APC Presidential hopeful for the visit pledging that members of the party in the state will do the needful.
