World Teachers Day: Anambra teacher, Mrs. Nnabeze emerges overall best in public secondary schools in Nigeria

The World Teachers Day, Anambra State’s Mrs. Bridget Nnabeze of Modebe Memorial Secondary School, Onitsha has emerged overall best in Public Secondary Schools in Nigeria.
Mrs. Chiamaka of Our Lady’s High School, Onitsha also, won the second-best School Administrator, while Akpakogwe Central School Ogidi came fourth in Public Primary Schools category.
Anambra State also won the fifth best teacher in the Primary Schools category.
Speaking at the event, President Muhammadu Buhari, who was represented by the Minister of State for Education, Dr. Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, extolled Nigerian teachers and education officers for living up to expectations despite the obvious challenges.
The President noted that the World Teachers’ Day, celebration is meant to create awareness on the status of teachers in the society as enunciated by the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization UNESCO and International Labour Organization in 1994.
Meanwhile, the Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese Most Reverend Paulinus Ezeokafor has called on developing countries which do not appreciate the role of teachers in the society to properly remunerate them to sustain their service to humanity.
Bishop Ezeokafor who spoke on this year’s woyrld Teachers Day celebration urged teachers to continue to give their best to the society.
The Prelate urged the recipients of the teachers efforts to tap on the knowledge impacted by their teachers for a better society.
He commended the Anambra State government for enhancing the education sector.
