Yobe at 32: Speaker Mashio congratulates Governor Buni, citizens
The Speaker of the Yobe State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chiroma Buba Mashio, has congratulated Yobe State Governor Hon Mai Mala Buni on the 32th anniversary of the creation of the state.
The Speaker who disclosed this in Damaturu, said: “I wish to congratulate our state Governor and the people of the state for attaining 32 years in existence, We pray God to continue blessing the state with success and peaceful coexistence”.
Yobe State was carved out of Borno State on August 27, 1991 by the then regime of General Ibrahim Babangida with its capital in Damaturu.
Yobe State shares borders with Borno State to the east, Gombe State to the south, Bauchi and Jigawa States to the East and Niger Republic to the north.
He acknowledge the efforts of the founding fathers of the state and it’s subsequent leaders for the appreciable socio-economic and political development recorded despite the tortuous journey as an creater the state.
The speaker, enumerated various developmental drives put in place by the state Governor Mai Mala Buni in all facets of human development within his last four years of qualitive stewardship.
Buba described the bold steps taken by the governor in addressing insecurity, poverty, hunger, poor health and sensation in addition to provision of water, agricultural inputs, qualitive education and creation of investor-friendly atmosphere as right steps towards taking yobe State to the promised land.
He called on his fellow colleagues to support the government led by Governor Buni in order to deliver the promises made to the electorate.
“I want to assure you all that I will work with the dear of God Almighty and will serve as Speaker to all and my door will remain always open.
“I call on the all members to support the administration of his Excellency the governor of Yobe state, Hon Mai Mala Buni to serve the people of the state and provide the dividend of democracy,” he said.
