Youths urged to acquire skills than look for white collar jobs

Youths in Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State have been urged to prepared their future by acquiring knowledge and equipped themselves with different kinds of skills and not to depend on white collar jobs.
The called was been made by Dr. Cyril Afuwai of Geophysics Department in Kaduna State University (KASU) while delivering a speech at a one-day Appreciation Ceremony of Elected/Appointed Government Officials in the local government with a theme; ‘Education as a tool to Youth Sustainable Development’ held at Kaura Auditorium organized by National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Kaura Chapter.
Dr. Cyril also advised the youth to go for ‘Future Job Courses’, noting that job opportunities are reducing as the world is heading towards technology.
He equally called on the political leaders to promote quality education by restoring reading culture among the youths by establishing traditional and e-library and the provisions of scholarship for bright students.
Speaking on ‘the role of youths in promoting good governance’, the provost, City College of Health Science and Technology, Zaria, Mr. Obadiah Sankyai said youth inclusion in the political aspects of Nigeria is very
critical in a sense that it is a great machinery to reinvent the governance structure of Nigeria.
He said commercialization of politics which has turned it to investment, incursion of military into politics, has destroyed democratic culture and has robbed the youths of having knowledge of what the ideal, proper and civil political processes should be.
Sankyai urged the youth not to destroyed their future by indulging into political thuggery and drug abuse, noting that only responsible youths can delivered when given opportunity.
He said as the majority of the Nigerian youth are leading a worst life due to a widespread unemployment and detachment from income generating schemes, it would be a ticking political time bomb if not managed.
Speaking on ‘Insecurity as a major challenge; way forward,’ the Police Divisional Officer, Division ‘C’ Jos, Plateau State, CSP Yusuf Musa Lyabityak called on the government to engage community leaders, youth leaders and all other stakeholders for bringing a lasting solutions to insecurity, saying that development can only thrive in a peaceful atmosphere.
DSP Lybityak who call on the need for government to provide full employment to the youth, noted that ethnic and religious differences, do or die politics, unemployment and poverty are the major causes of the rising cases of insecurity in the country.
He said lack of modern equipment and inadequate security personnel were among the challenges of fighting insecurity, which in turn, destroyed economy, human and social capital.
He called on the Nigerian leaders and local authorities to govern in a way that foster development, and also sanitized the citizens on the negative consequences of corruption and other vices in the society.
In their goodwill messages, member representing Kaura in Kaduna State House of Assembly; Hon Yusuf Mugu, Member representing Kaura Federal Constituency and the Minority Whip; Hon Gideon Lukas Gwani and the Chief of Staff to the Kaduna State Deputy Governor; Barrister James Kanyip promised to protect the right of the youth and provide the platform for them to prosper in life, “but the youth should work and justify why they should be included in politics,” they reiterated.
Earlier, the Coordinator, National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Kaura Local Government Chapter, Comrade Istifanus Ayuba, said the objective of organizing the event is to bring closer to the youth, and interact with the elected and appointed sons and daughters of the local government and to look on the way forward of developing the area.
