13 companies In Anambra receive MANCAP certificates from SON

Thirteen companies domiciled in Anambra State, have received Mandatory Conformity Assessment Programme, (MANCAP), certificate from Standard Organization of Nigeria having met  necessary requirements of production.
The event held at the Standard Organization of Nigeria headquarters in Awka had its theme as, “Promoting Made in Nigeria Products.
Our correspondent reports that of the thirteen companies, nine with twenty products received new MANCAP certification, while the certificate of other four companies with seven products were revalidated.
The Mandatory Conformity Assessment Programme, MANCAP, is a policy put in place by the federal government with the overall objective of improving the quality of life of the citizenry by ensuring that all locally manufactured products conform to the relevant Nigerian Industrial Standards, before they are allowed into the open market.
In an address, the Co-ordinator of Standard Organization of Nigeria Anambra State One, Onipede Adeoye who represented the Director-General of Standard Organization of Nigeria, Mr. Farouk Salim, and Anambra State Director of the organization, Mr. Don-Pedro Papanye asked the companies to maintain quality in their productions so as to retain the MANCAP certificate, as he explained that the organization will continue to monitor their activities, adding that certificate of any company found wanting afterwards will be withdrawn.
He encouraged members of the public to report any company that produces substandard products to the Standard Organization of Nigeria for prosecution.
In his  remarks, one of the recipients,  Mr. Uchenna Onwunazor, promised to uphold quality in their productions, and called on both Federal and State governments to tackle some of the challenges facing manufacturers in Nigeria, including epileptic power supply, multiple taxation, among others, in order to make things easier for them.
