The 15 years tussle over the Efik stool has been described as very unfortunate by the Obong of Calabar Executive Forum, (OCEF).
The forum which is the administrative cum advisory arm of the Obong of Calabar stool said in a statement signed by Chairman of the forum, Chief Gershom Henshaw, MFR, and secretary, Dr Maurice Ekpenyong that all the people who had issues should sheath their swords and return to the palace for reconciliation.
“The OCEF aligns wholly with the admonition of state government for a reconciliation of all the contending parties in the now resolved tussle.”
The Forum called on former finance minister, Etubom Anthony Ani and his group which struggled the Efik Throne with the Obong of Calabar, Edidem Ekpo Okon Abasi Otu v to return to the palace.
The state government two days ago issued a formal declaration, confirming Edidem Ekpo Okon Abasi Otu v as the authentic Obong of Calabar, saying they have thoroughly reviewed the high court and Supreme Court’s judgments on the contending issues which judgements favored Abasi Otu.
The forum also called on all Efik children home and abroad to come together to rally round Abasi Otu v to build a prosperous Efik kingdom.
The forum commended the state government for its timely intervention which they said has put an end to the unhealthy development in the Kingdom and restored peace.
