2023: Don’t choose next leaders using ethno-religious, tribal sentiments – Emir of Bauchi caution, prays for The Nigeria Agenda to succeed

Emir of Bauchi, Dr Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu

As the 2023 General elections is fast approaching, Nigerians have been cautioned against using religion, tribe and section in choosing who becomes what as leaders in the next dispensation.
The warning was made by the Emir of Bauchi, Alhaji Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu who warned that sentimental considerations will not augur well for the survival of the nation.
Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu who is the Chairman, Bauchi State Council of Traditional Rulers gave the warning when members of ‘The Nigeria Agenda’ (TNA) paid an Advocacy visit to him in his palace in Bauchi, saying that choosing leaders on these basis leads to poor development.
The traditional ruler also cautioned against allowing tribal and religious sentiment to influence the choice of leaders in the country stressing that Nigerians should see themselves as one irrespective of the ethno-religious and political differences.
The Emir further urged leaders anywhere they find themselves to be honest, sincere and just while carrying out their responsibilities because according to him, those are the qualities needed for the country to develop.
He also commended the efforts of TNA team for advocating the Nigeria Agenda and unity of the country saying that, with such awareness, people will understand the importance of good leadership.
Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu however prayed for the success of the TNA, adding that the mission of the agenda would change the narrative of the country positively.
Speaking Earlier, the TNA lead team, former Information Commissioner in Adamawa State, Alhaji Ahmed Sajoh said that they were in the palace to seek for his royal blessings and also intimate him on the mission of the TNA.
According to him, “we want to advocate against division in the block of South South, North East, South West, North West, tribal and religious division among others in the country”.
He added that, “To emphasise the need for unity togetherness and agenda for Nigeria to be Nigeria as one entity,”.
According to Ahmed Sajoh, ““It is possible to avoid introducing tribal sentiments, religious factors and the north/south dichotomy as we pursue the common good of this nation”.
He further explained that TNA also advocates for leaders who are honest, just and fair, inspirational leaders with vision to keep the country together saying, “We must realise that what is of great importance is our unity and the progress of the country”.
The Convener of TNA then appealed to traditional and religious leaders to support the Movement to succeed in its quest for providing a united Nigeria.
