2023: Former secretary to government wins APGA Ebonyi governorship ticket as PDP postponed primaries fourth time

A former Secretary to Ebonyi State Government, Prof. Ben Odoh has emerged the governorship candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance for the 2023 elections.

The chairman of the Electoral Panel, Deacon Olalere Samson who conducted the exercise said that Prof. Odoh scored 513 votes to emerge winner. Odoh was the sole governorship aspirant in the state.

But, among the three major political parties featuring in the forthcoming elections, APGA remains the only party that had recorded free and fair primaries.

In his acceptance speech, Odoh applealed the people of the state to support APGA to promote regional political economy for the south East zone.

Odoh said: “Exactly one year today, i will be sworn in as the next Governor of Ebonyi State. I’m deeply honoured to have been found fit to fly the flag of APGA in Ebonyi state.

“I hereby accept this offer and count myself to ensure that our party wins Ebonyi State”, he explained.

APGA has finished its primaries for 2023 elections while the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the state Sunday postponed its primaries for the fourth time.

The postponement came following the return to status-quo that recognized the sacked state chairman, Hon. Toochukwu Okorie as the authentic state chairman.

It could be recall that Okorie was returned by an Appeal Court in Abuja after he was sacked by a High Court and state Barr. Silas Onu to take his position.

But since the return of Okorie, Mr. Onu has refused to relinquish the position.

This came as Hon. Okorie who made the presidential delegate on Saturday in Abuja insisted that he has the authentic list for the exercise.

At the moment, no date has being fixed for the PDP primaries in the state.

Although, a faction of the PDP in the state led by Barrister Onu conducted their own primary,
