By Raymond Gukas
To underscore the fact that Nigerian electorates are getting wiser by the day is no doubt, a reality and this calls for caution on the part of the numerous politicians who are jostling for political relevance as the year of serious politicking kick starts.
The belief that with money, the political moneybags can buy themselves political positions is fast giving way to those with genuine intentions as the electorates are now demanding for who has what and can offer what; when trusted with their mandate.
The above narrative is instructive, as recent events have indicated in the last year’s governorship election; held in Anambra state where all the contending candidates, are drawn more from outside the career political class to more of technocrats who, it was believed has something concrete to offer the state.
2023 therefore, cannot be different as the pendellum swings towards serious contenders; not minding the choice of party. The popular parties today are well aware of this, as the issues relating to inpunity on the part of those enjoying; perhaps, unpopular mandates are having a rethink on who to present to attract more patronage in elections.
As a result, if a humble young man, who yearns for the progress of his native community and in the last year, has made real his intention to support it the more; when trusted with the people’s mandate in the area of portable drinking water, provision of drugs to community health centres, scholarships to indigent students among other things, is being drafted to join the race to represent the constituent; the challenge, though tasking, has become a walk over.
Dr. Nsikak Eka, who for over three decades, has not just been part of the people but an enabler of her true custodian, has been a faithful servant of the people who understand that the failing hand needs help to be an excellent voice for the voiceless, his wealth of knowledge on institutional development comes in handy, especially when our current democratic dispensation is witnessing some slow movement that is not meeting the yearnings of her populace.
The credence of his view of modern-driven to deepening touch with the grassroots has stimulated his push for change that will drive an all-inclusive platform that would be meaningful to the people of Ibiano.
He might not have the genuine charisma of a politician; yes, but his global view of looking at every aspect of a problem keeps him in a class of its own. That is the more reason the
Itu / Ibiono Ibom Federal Constituency has come to the right place to secure his consent to stand up for the challenge of that constituency come 2023.
Hon. Dr. Henry Archibong, the current occupier of the exalted seat at the green chambers, has done his part; hence, when the Ibiano Ibom side of the constituency, put forward Dr. Ekanem as the person for the job, the reception of the choice was overwhelming.
Currently Itu and Ibiono Ibom LGAs have fared well in the scheme of things concerning the federal bloc, the appearance of a more concerned and lovable person to succeed Dr. Achibong come 2023 has wholly changed the narratives because both Council areas are in agreement that a change was desirable.
As Churchill once postulated, “if you can not listen to understand your people, then you can’t solve the simple problems that matter to them” and Nsikak understood the power of solving the everyday issues for the common man, woman, child, to create that community that will be a pride to all.
The traits of a great leader sit within the intersection of compassion for humanity and fostering all the necessary elements to be ahead to meet the demand of the people. Professionally, Nsikak maintains superior intelligence, with a technical background laced with diverse training across reputable institutions and industries.
He helped navigate several tough decisions on mission-critical decision-making that contributed millions of dollars savngs, eliminated targeted risk, and minimized the widespread disaster impact.
Nsikak is distinctly separated from the pack as it relates to a proactive and empirical analysis of the situation in both tactical and strategical endpoint where at client engagement situation looks hopeless. With the current situation staring him in the face, he can conviniently remedy the situation excellently defiling all conventional strategy, a survey by some stakeholders has indicated.
The word “transparency “has helped him be the bridge builder within any team and group throughout his professional career, as he replicates the thought quote of George that says” everything you’ve ever wanted is on the other side of fear.”
His approaches to decomposing issues at the multi-layer phase have distinguished major assignments as a clear picture of his antecedents. Nsikak is solution-driven as he fondly pushes the limit button with folks that have worked with him, saying he has never lived in the space of a faulting situation but fixing the problem.
His professional life is characterized by inclusiveness to bring people together to create something bigger than the current state. He believes the current state will soon become the past after twenty-four hours.
Conclusively, the Nsikak mantra leaves the people with a great community that will transcend time, meaning creating a space in our open political structure that deepens our democracy and bring the much-needed dividend to the four wall corners of our community.
Like Les Brown would fondly say,” too many of us are not living our dreams because we are living our fears.”Nsikak is that savant who has defiled all odd in his professional space in both Europe and North America and has seen the need to change.
His human side had to birth some little projects that matter to everyday Ibiano citizens, and the joy of creating a happy world for the people he loves so much has been the enabler of this journey.
This credence of modern and biblical views helps drive his passion for deepening touch the most disadvantaged in our communities. As a result, his philanthropic projects were selected based on a needs assessment that identified communities and people of the most need”, a concerned community leader confirmed to our reporter.
Fortunately, the aspirant who is plying his aspiration with a popular political party, the People’s Democratic Party, PDP he is a staunch supporter, has made his aspiration and eventual emergence as the flagbearer easier
Only recently in Jos, Plateau state capital, the young man came alive when friends and associates converge in the city to mobilize their Kith and kins in the diaspora to look the direction of Nsikak who, from has what it takes to give a robust representation in this critical period of want.
Nsikak Umoh Eka was born over three decades ago into the family of Engr. Edem Akpan Umoh Eka, successful executive leader, businessman, security consultant, and philanthropist, in Ikot Udo Efum village of Utit Obio Clan, Ibiono Ibom.
As a seasoned security leader specializing in homeland security and terrorism fight expert, Nsikak has dominated the security world from being an executive leader in many industries.
According to feelers from the community, the choice of Nsikak has been wholly accepted based on available facts, previous representatives have left much to be desired under the democratic dispensation. And to add, since the position of the member of the house of representatives of the federal constituency has been tactically zoned to Ibiano; his support base for has been tremendous as it kept swelling to the admiration of good people in that constituency.
In Ibiano and environs, he has to his credit; the provision of free and clean water with a generator set at Ikot Udo to serve the market and no fewer than five surrounding communities. He posits that This would help the economy of the market and Ibiono Ibom.
Not done, he provided free and Clean water with a generator at Ikot Udom to serve adjoining communities, Provided palliatives including food supplies to all widows in Ikpanya, canes for the elderly, pads for all young ladies available, and books and school supplies for primary and secondary students.
Also, free and clean water with a generator at Nsan to serve other communities nearby, Provided hospital equipment to the Nsan health center, Annual grant to pre-nursery and primary pupils and secondary school students with the first batch of over 160 students, mainly the orphans and very disadvantaged in the communities as major beneficiaries.
“Students were selected from all schools in Ibiono to cut across all clans and communities. Our team went to each school to ensure the purpose was achieved, Provided free and clean water with a generator set at Ikot Ukpong to serve communities nearby, Paid fees for some stranded Ibiono Ibom university students as well as Partly sponsored the Ibiono Ibom Southern Youth Association football tournament among others.
Touching on other social life, he Provided chairs to the current meeting hall used by the Ibiono Youth, and through the Wot Ami Ima project has empowered several Ibiono Ibom indigents with business boosters to support their businesses post-covid impact.
Nsikak Eka will not stop here but has already made plans for more projects this year and beyond as God provides and with these numerous projects to his credit, the Nsan health center received those beds to prepare for unexpected outcomes following the COVID-19 pandemic. However, Nsikak Eka already supports over five orphanages and widows facilities across Akwa Ibom and Nigeria at which time, most of the facilities desperately needed help to meet their daily demands.
Nsikak Eka focused on helping out those centers with limited resources and holding Itu/Ibiono in prayers. In his opinion, “we trusted that the Ibiono Ibom leadership and representatives could protect our people in such times. Thank God for a great man in the person of our own Senator Bassey Albert for the many generosities he showed our people during this period.
Today, we will leave without closing another gap by supporting the Youths with a generator set for the hall,” he emphasised.
The people from Itu/Ibiono Ibom federal constituency may have found a servant to trust with with thier mandate in 2023, as the political think thank in the communities have expressed willingness to canvass support for one of their illostrous sons Dr. Nsikak Umoh Eka, a security expert who has made it a habit over time; to respond to some of their pressing needs in and around the community.
