2023: Ohafia community endorses Labour Party manifesto

The Ohafia community in Abia State has endorsed the manifesto of Labour Party (LP), and has decided to mobilise to back it during next year’s general election.

A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Chief Awa Kalu who addressed the Ohafia leaders and stakeholders during during its inaugural meeting which drew participation from leading professionals, business people and politicians from the clan on Saturday.

Kalu said they have therefore decided to endorse their son, Ibe Okwara Osonwa as consensus candidate For Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency.

He said they have carefully followed and properly fact checked his person and perused his campaign manifesto, which if implemented would bring development to the constituency.

He noted that their decision on LP became imperative to avoid losing the seat to “others”.

Also speaking at the meeting, a former Attorney General of Abia State and Commissioner of Justice, Chief Umeh Kalu (SAN) spoke in favour of the party.

He argued that equity demands that the Ohafia clan be given the opportunity to produce the next House of Representatives member for Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency.

“Ohafia had since 1999 been continually shortchanged in the allocation of political offices in the constituency. It is time to unite and fight for the future of our people as a community. Ibe is competent and well-equiped to represent our people,” he said.

The Vice President of Mben Political Assembly, Dr. Michael Mba who also spoke in Calabar, lamented the poor state of affairs in Abia State.

He described it as comprehensively abysmal, saying LP can would meet their desires.
