2023 Senate: Cancel Nasarawa, Keffi results, I won not Tukur – Barrister Magaji

Barrister Labaran Shuiabu Magaji, an aspirant in the just concluded Nasarawa West Senatorial District primary election, has raised his voice via a four-page petition copied the APC National Chairman, state chairman and also the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC), Nasarawa State demanding cancellation of the results from Nasarawa and Keffi local government areas.

He said the results from the two local governments are full of infractions and discrepancies in the delegates list.

The APC primary election for Senate in Nasarawa west was postponed twice on May 28 and 29, 2022 but was finally conducted on June 4 following disagreement and crisis over allegations of delegate list being doctored.

The petition by Barrister Magaji which he personally signed and made available to journalists in the state on Monday, called for the cancellation of result from Nasarawa and Keffi local government areas.

He also raised four prayers in the petition, which he seek redressed to as well as expressed shocked and disappointment over a telephone conversation between a highly placed traditional ruler and the APC chairman, Keffi LGA, seeking that the list of delegates be in favour of Archetic Shehu Tukur.

The letter of petition which reads in parts had it that “I, BARR. LABARAN SHUAIBU MAGAJI (MATAWALLEN TOTO) an aspirant in the just concluded APC Nasarawa West Senatorial District 2022 election hereby write to complain about several infractions and discrepancies in the delegates list of Nasarawa and Keffi Local Government Area in Nasarawa West Senatorial District APC Primary Election held on the 4th day of June 2022.

“That I participated in the primary election held on the 4th day of June, 2022 and I contested with one ARC. SHEHU AHMED TUKUR. That at the end of the primary election I polled a total number of One Hundred and Fourteen (114) votes cast while ARC. SHEHU AHMED TUKUR polled a total of One Hundred and Seventy-nine (179) votes.

He also said ordinarily, as a party man who believes in sportsmanship, he shouldn’t have been seen complaining but that the emerging facts touching on the credibility of the nomination process including a viral audio telephone conversation alleged to be between a royal father of keffi and the chairman of All Progressive Congress (APC) keffi Local Government Area it incumbent to bring this here to safeguard the integrity of our party the APC.

The letter of petition further state “That I am completely astonished to see two inconsistent delegates list for Nasarawa and Keffi Local Government in the just concluded Primary Election of Nasarawa West Senatorial District held on the 4th day of June 2022 particularly Nasarawa Local Government delegates list where two APC Primary election for State House of Assembly and House of Representative were conducted with two different delegates list

Barrister Labaran Shuiabu Magaji letter of petition further revealed that two inconsistent delegates list for Nasarawa and Keffi respectfully are hereby annexed and MARKED AS EXHIBIT (A1),(A2) and (B1) (B2)That on the said date scheduled for the postponed APC Primary Election to select the senatorial candidate for Nasarawa West Senatorial District which was on the 4th day of June, 2022, no clarification as to which of the two conflicting delegates list was to be used for the election.

Part of Barrister Magaji prayers in the petition seeks that declaration that both the two (2) separate purported delegates list for Nasarawa and Keffi Local Government been a product of illegality is null and void.

A Declaration that the Seventy-Five (75) person’s votes for EXHIBIT A1 and the 50 votes for EXHIBIT B1 for Nasarawa and keffi Local Government Area respectfully and who voted for ARCH. SHEHU TUKUR be declared null and void.

The aspirant, Labaran Magaji,seeks that he be declared winner of the primary election for the selection of the Senatorial candidate for Nasarawa West Senatorial District held on the 4th day of June 2022 having satisfied the requirement of the law and polled the highest number of valid votes cast in the election.
