The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has urged prospective candidates for the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) to begin the creation of their profiles on its portal to avoid any delay during the registration process of the examination.

Recalled that the Board had fixed the commencement of registration for the 2023 UTME from Saturday, 14th January to Tuesday, 14th February, 2023 and the Direct Entry (DE) application commences from Monday, 20th February to Thursday, 20th April, 2023.

The Board in its weekly bulletin, also stated candidates are at liberty to create their profiles, even before the formal commencement of the UTME registration process.

“To do this, every candidate would be required to use a unique phone (mobile) number (SIM) for the process of registration. This, in essence, means that the unique phone number can only be used by one candidate,” it said.

“Candidates are also to note that this number (SIM) remains their unique identification for all their subsequent transactions with the Board.

“To create a profile, candidates will send their national identification number (NIN) by text (SMS) to either 55019 or 66019 from their personal GSM number.

JAMB said the number to be used by the candidates to create the profile must not have been used by another person to register for UTME/DE in the past.

“Candidates are requested not to use post-paid or any other special bundle package as this will not work unless specially loaded with call credit,” the board added.

“Once the NIN has been sent to 55019 or 66019, a profile code of 10 characters will be received by the candidate on the same telephone (SIM) number.

“Returning candidates from previous years will still receive the same profile code on the phone number they had used previously.

“It is to be noted that the profile created remains the same for candidates either in their present or future transactions with the Board.

“This is because the number used to send the text message is automatically tied to the candidate’s name and will be used in all communications relating to the candidates’ 2023 or future application, examination, and admission,” it said.

It also called on candidates who desire to apply for the UTME and the Direct Entry (Direct Entry) to study the requirements before commencing the application process.

“They are to note that the Eligibility Checker on the IBASS platform is to assist candidates with options of programmes/courses based on their subject combination/qualifications.

“To use the platform, candidates are to scan the QR code provided on the Board’s website and its other social media handles as well as its advertisements announcing the commencement of the sales of application documents to access IBASS for the e- brochure and syllabuses,” it said.
