Though he has not declare interest in vying for any political office in the 2023 General elections, Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Ali Pantami has been urged to come out and express interest in the governorship of Gombe State.
Consequently, a coalition of like minded youths from all the 114 political wards of Gombe State has expressed readiness to purchase the gubernatorial expression of interest and nomination forms of any political party for the Minister as soon as he expressed interest to aspire.
To demonstrate that they are serious, the youths have approached a Court in Gombe to compel the Minister to declare interest and contest for the office of the Governor of Gombe State, come 2023 since they have not gotten a positive response from the Minister after several approaches.
Chairman of the coalition, Muhammad Nafiu Abdullahi who addressed Journalists in Gombe said that, “To demonstrate our commitment to this cause, we have no other option but to approach the court to compel Prof Pantami as a public officer to perform his duty to Gombe state by vying for the office of the Governor of Gombe state in the upcoming election primaries under the platform of his choice”.
Leading other youths during the press briefing, Nafiu said that, members of the Coalition are also ready to buy cars for the eleven (11) Local Government Area Chairmen of the party that gives Pantami the ticket to boost the aspirant’s chances.
He also said that , their choice of Isa Pantami is because he is young, learnered and a vibrant leader who in the past, has shown that he has the capacity to take Gombe State to greater heights”.
According to him, “Professor Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami in his capacity as DG NITDA, as well as Minister of communications and Digital Economy, has excellently discharged his duties of making positive and useful development within Gombe State in terms of ICT development & facilities”,
In his words, “Prof Pantami has consistently initiated and completed projects that cut across the 11 LGAs ofGombe state in the past six years” .
“He has initiated the placement of several regional and state offices of Important Parastatals to Gombe such as, NITDA, NCC, Galaxy Backbone, ECC and other key activities that directly lead to development both within and outside the ICT sector where he champions”, he added.
“His track record of achievement, which are obvious and recognized by the indigenes of the state and others has placed Gombe state in the limelight in the whole of the country and the world at large”, he stressed.
“This petition to awaken our desirous leader’s attention, was also duly entered by stakeholders in each of the 114 wards in Gombe State”, Nafiu added.
