The Calabar branch of Godswill Akpabio Uncommon Transformational Support Organization (GAUTSO) has explained that former governor of Akwa Ibom State, Godswill Akpabio has the magic wand to turn Nigerian around like he did in his state.

They have therefore called him to declare his interest to run for the office of President of Nigeria.

They made the call in Calabar Tuesday after their meeting.

They said their call for the Akpabio, currently Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, to contest for the Presidency is based on their collective conviction that his sterling capacity and track record in public service spanning over 20 years, stand him in good stead as the man who can take the country to great heights.

They said the news of APC zoning the presidency to the South of Nigeria has further boosted the morale of the people of Cross River State, which reason informed their clarion call.

One of the speakers, Mr Patrick Archibong said GAUTSO Calabar is calling on Senator Akpabio to come out and fix Nigeria for all Nigerians since he is one Nigerian who is seen to have the progress and development of the country at heart.

He described Akpabio as a bold leader especially about matters affecting the people.

Giving her keynote address, a leader of the group, Mrs Helen Bassey-Osijo, recounted key achievements of Senator Akpabio in his six years as a Commissioner, eight years as Governor, four years as Senate Majority leader and two years as Niger Delta Minister.

She said Akpabio’s greatest achievement in Akwa Ibom State remains his investment in human beings, which also improved livelihood opportunities across the state.

“GAUTSO Calabar Chapter is therefore asking him to come out to contest for the Presidency of Nigeria and do for the whole country what he did in Akwa Ibom state.”
