Nigerians involved in agro-businesses in Cross River State have expressed their resolve to back Governor Bassey Otu and his deputy, Dr Peter Odey to return in 2027 for their second term.
The coalition of agro-business entrepreneurs led by De‑Ofuka Cocoa Development and Consultancy Services, together with Cross River’s cocoa farmers, made the resolution yesterday during the Central Senatorial District carnival held at Ikom Township Stadium.
They called on the electorate to re‑elect both, saying Otu’s swift response to both infrastructural and human‑capital challenges has necessitated the call.
“Look at Gov Otu has given it a facelift,” he said.
He pointed to several state iconic structures left to rot by previous administrations have been resuscitated and put to use, listing the State Library Complex, as an example.
According to him, Otu’s administration is committed to tangible progress.
“A major pillar of Otu’s agenda is the Deforestation‑Free Policy, launched early this year,” he disclosed.
He said the initiative attracted international partners like and positioned the state as a leader in climate‑smart agriculture.
“By opening premium markets for cocoa, coffee and oil‑palm, the policy also safeguards over half of Nigeria’s remaining rainforest,” he said.
