In football, every serious team fields its best players to secure victory. Politics is no different. When the stakes are high and the future is at risk, only the most capable, experienced, and widely accepted candidate can guarantee success. Nasarawa State has reached such a defining moment.

Since the return to civilian rule, Nasarawa State has wisely embraced zoning as a tool for justice, fairness, and peaceful coexistence. This arrangement has helped the state manage diversity, reduce tension, and give every senatorial zone a sense of belonging in the governance of the state.

By the wisdom of elders and stakeholders, the first civilian governor of Nasarawa State, Senator Dr. Abdullahi Adamu, emerged from the Western Senatorial Zone and served two tenures. This set a balanced foundation for power rotation in the state.

Afterward, power shifted to the Southern Senatorial Zone, where Alhaji Aliyu Akwe Doma served one tenure, followed by Alhaji Tanko Al-Makura, who completed two tenures. In total, the Southern Zone governed the state for twelve uninterrupted years.

Power then moved to the Northern Senatorial Zone, producing the current governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule, who is set to complete his second tenure in 2027. This progression clearly reflects a deliberate and respected zoning formula.

By simple logic, equity, and fairness, the next governor of Nasarawa State should come from the Western Senatorial Zone. Anything short of this would amount to a violation of natural justice and a threat to the fragile peace the state currently enjoys.

The renewed agitation by individuals and groups from zones whose turn has not come undermines unity and risks reopening old wounds. If one section is allowed to dominate at the expense of others, peace and harmony will inevitably suffer.

It is important to emphasize that every zone in Nasarawa State has thousands of qualified men and women capable of governing. However, zoning is not about lack of competence; it is about inclusion, balance, and giving every segment a fair sense of participation.

The privilege of collective participation through zoning must not be discarded. In civilized societies, power is managed through dialogue and fairness, not brute strength. Only in the animal kingdom does might automatically make right.

The commitment of Governor Abdullahi Sule to sustaining zoning deserves the support of all well-meaning citizens. Political ambition must never outweigh the collective peace and stability of Nasarawa State.

Across Nigeria, zoning remains a widely accepted political practice that promotes unity and reduces conflict. Nasarawa State should not be an exception, especially when zoning has served it well over the years.

Politicians must recognize that the peace and tranquility currently enjoyed in the state are far more valuable than personal ambitions. Seeking power when it is clearly not one’s turn is an invitation to crisis.

Traditional rulers also have a critical role to play. They should rise in defense of peace by discouraging individuals and groups whose actions threaten harmony and by guiding the state toward justice and order.

Nasarawa State is greater than any individual or sectional interest. Anything that undermines peaceful coexistence must be firmly rejected for the sake of present and future generations.

As the Western Senatorial Zone’s turn approaches, unity within the zone is essential. Rather than presenting multiple aspirants, the zone must come together and rally behind one credible, acceptable, and widely respected grassroots politician.

Among all those who have shown interest, one name stands out boldly and unmistakably: Distinguished Senator Ahmed Wadada Aliyu. His profile, experience, and acceptance clearly set him apart.

Senator Wadada is a seasoned politician with unmatched experience. Having served two terms in the House of Representatives and currently a high-ranking Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, he understands governance, legislation, and political strategy at the highest level.

Beyond politics, he is a successful entrepreneur and an international businessman with strong networks capable of attracting investors and driving economic growth in Nasarawa State.

Senator Wadada is also a tested grassroots mobilizer who has built strong political structures across the state. He connects easily with youths, traditional rulers, the poor, and the elite alike, earning respect across social divides.

His name is a household brand in Nasarawa State and beyond. It opens doors nationally and internationally, positioning him as a candidate who can effectively represent the state on a global stage.

Presenting Senator Ahmed Wadada Aliyu as the APC candidate from the Western Senatorial Zone will not only bring joy to the people but also strengthen the party’s chances of victory in 2027.

Like a football team relying on its best player to dribble past defenders and score the winning goal, Nasarawa State and the APC must present their political “Maradona” to secure success.

For justice, peace, unity, and victory, the choice is clear. Senator Ahmed Wadada Aliyu represents continuity, fairness, and a winning future for Nasarawa State.
